01 — Context

A matrimonial platform for one community

A modern matrimonial platform exclusively for the Maheshwari (Marwadi) community, combining traditional family values with technology-driven matchmaking. The community values family involvement, cultural compatibility and long-term relationships when searching for a life partner. Existing platforms are often:

  • too generic, focused on quantity over quality
  • difficult for parents to navigate
  • lacking community-specific filters
  • filled with inactive or unverified profiles
  • missing a sense of trust and personal connection

02 — Problem

The core problem

Maheshwari and Marwadi families need a trusted, community-focused matrimonial platform that simplifies the partner search while preserving traditional values, family involvement and authenticity, because existing matrimonial solutions often feel impersonal, overwhelming and lack community relevance.

  • For parents

    Relevance and trust

Too many irrelevant profiles, hard-to-verify authenticity, limited community-focused matching, a time-consuming search, and concerns about privacy and trust.

  • For brides & grooms

    Compatibility and comfort

Difficulty finding compatible matches, profiles that lack meaningful information, an awkward communication process, an overwhelming number of options and a lack of transparency.

  • Design challenge

    How might we…

How might we create a digital matchmaking experience that feels as trustworthy, personal and culturally rooted as traditional community matchmaking, while offering the convenience, speed and reach of modern technology?

06 — Where it is now

In progress

Saathveda is currently at the UI/UX design and prototyping stage, with the core user journey and key screens taking shape. Next, I’m focusing on refining the interface, validating the experience, and bringing the landing page and complete product flow together. The token system already covers the palette architecture, semantic colours, spacing, radius, grid and container direction, the cultural shape vocabulary, and photography and motion principles.

Outcome

What it enables

  • Trust over volume, with verification at the core
  • Seamless family participation
  • Community-focused matchmaking
  • A premium, elegant experience
  • Privacy and security at every stage
  • A simpler journey from discovery to connection

What we'd measure

  • Time to find relevant matches
  • Profile completion rate
  • Share of verified profiles
  • Inquiry and contact rates
  • Successful matches
  • Parent-user satisfaction
  • Premium membership conversions

Reflection

Saathveda has taught me how to balance tradition with modern digital design without losing the essence of the idea. It pushed me to think more deeply about trust, family involvement, and how small design decisions can make a complex experience feel simpler and more approachable. Most importantly, it strengthened my understanding of designing with context and purpose.
